Fall - coming too soon!!
This spring we planted a total of 33 trees. At Harbour Court we planted 2 Maple trees and 2 Red Oak trees. At Jowett's Grove Rd. we planted 2 Maple trees and a Sycamore tree. On Catherine St. we planted a Serviceberry tree. On Chiniquay a replacement Red Bud tree. On Ducharme St. 2 Red Oaks and a Sycamore tree. On Howard Street 2 Maple trees. On Main St. North, 2 Maple trees at Rhumba (north of Archives), one Maple at Library driveway near sidewalk. One Maple in the garden, just south of Outdoor Projects (old Westlake Building). Replacement trees planted on Colina St. (Red Bud), Ducharme St. (2 Honey Burst Locust trees), On Troy St. one Maple tree. At Mill Rd and Hwy #21 one Maple and 2 Red Oaks.
Streets and Trees Planted 2014
This fall we planted a total of 32 trees. At NE cormer of Mill Rd. and Hwy #21, one large 7 year old Osage Orange tree that was planted and donated by David Brodie. At Clan Gregor Square, 1 White Oak in memory of Sarah Dick (long time Bayfield Conservationist who protected trees). On Eugene Street, 4 Tulip Trees, 7 Autumn Blaze Maples and 2 Sycamore trees. On Troy St. we planted 5 Maple trees. On Ducharme St., we planted 4 Maple trees, 2 Sycamore trees, 1 Locust tree, 1 Tulip tree and planted a red oak as a replacement tree. On Colina St. we planted 2 Red Bud trees. On William St. we planted one Fiesta Maple tree as a replacement tree.
We planted a total of 38 trees this spring. On Hamilton St.: 2 Red Oaks, a Sunburst Honey Locust, 3 Sycamores and a Green Mountain Maple. On Troy St. a Sunburst Honey Locust and two Tulip Trees. On Victoria St. a Sycamore, Hwy. 21 and Sarnia St. and Mill Rd. we planted 6 Red Oaks, 4 Autumn Blaze Maples, 2 Kentucky Coffee Trees, 1 Tulip tree, 2 Sweet Gum and 3 small Osage Orange seedlings grown and donated to us by Thyra Knudson. Five Autumn Blaze Maples on Mill Rd. In Clan Gregor Squrare, 2 Large Sugar Maples, 1 Large Tulip Tree and one Black Tupelo.
Streets and Trees Planted 2013
A total of 31 trees were planted. Species and Streets: On Tuyll St. we planted: two Green Spire Lindens, one Tulip Tree, two Ornamental Pears, five Red Buds, six Elms and three Hackberry. In fall 2012, we planted some "Homestead" Elms on Tuyll St. at Colina St. This year, in the same location, we added some "Valley Forge" Elms, both varieties are resistant to Dutch Elm Disease. On Ducharme Cres., off Hamilton St., we planted one each of the following: Tulip Tree, Maple, Hackberry, Sycamore and Red Oak plus three Sunburst Honey Locust. On Christie St. a Sunburst Honey Locust was planted. On John St., kitty corner to the west end of the Bayfield Arena, we planted two Red Buds and a White Angel Crab Apple.
A total of 14 trees were planted. Streets: Trees were planted on William Street, located on the east side of Hwy 21 between Euphemia Street to the north and Elizabeth Street to the South. Plus, an "infill" tree was planted on Louisa Street and one on Howard Street.Species: five Red Oaks, three Autumn Blaze Maples, four Sycamores, a Kentucky Coffee and a Hawthorne.
Streets and Trees Planted 2012
Total of 47 trees were planted this fall. 35 on Chiniquy, Delevan and Dow Streets. 4 at the north end of Tuyll St., 2 on the 'boulevard' at Euphemia and Keith Crescent, 6 as 'infills' on previously planted streets. Species included Fiesta Maples, Hackberrys, Red Buds, Red Oaks, Sycamores, Tulip Trees, Sunburst Locusts, Homestead Elms, Serviceberrys.
50 trees on Charles, Anne, Colina, Catherine and Howard Streets, as well as along Victoria Place and The Guides planted in front of the county-owned apartment building on Jane Street.
